How we make them

Three rules we build by.

Feel first

We prototype how a game feels to play before we build systems, art or menus. If it isn’t fun as grey boxes, it doesn’t get built.

Small and finished

We’d rather ship a small game that’s polished than a big one that isn’t. Finishing is the skill we’re practising.

Played early

Real players see our games long before they’re done — that’s how you find out what’s actually fun. That’s where you come in.

Playtest

Play the next one first.

Downbeat is out; the next games are in the works. Sign up, and when we let you in you’ll play them early on the devices you pick. We’ll only email you about playtests.

What you get
